About Hiraya Theater Company |
Hiraya Theater Company is the resident performing group of Binirayan Foundation, Inc. It was established in 2006 to form a production for the tribute to Graciano Lopez Jaena, a region-wide production presented at the Rose Memorial Hall of Central Philippine University on January 19, 2007. Hiraya Theater Company presented “Fray Botod”. Hiraya Theater Company’s second production was “Kahon”, a Kinaray-a adaptation of Orlando Nadres’s “Paraisong Parisukat” presented at the Advance Central College and Polytechnic State College. Its third production is a komedya by Exaltacion Combong. A 1960’s piece, which uses local the luwa and banggianay to present campaign against gambling and laud the rural electrification program. The komedya was received a grant from the National Commission for Culture and the Arts to represent Antique in the National Arts Month 2008. It was performed at the EBJ Freedom Park on February 11, at the UP Diliman Amphitheater on February 15, and at Belison National School on February 22. They also represented the province at the World Theater Week spearheaded by the NCCA and Unesco International Theater Institute at Intramuros, Manila. Hiraya Theater Company has been invited to Sining Gising of the National Broadcast Network. |
